Electro Acupuncture

As you can see from the picture above, small clips are connected to the acupuncture needles and a gentle current is passed through from an electro stimulation unit. The unit is computerised and can deliver many different frequencies and intensities, depending on what treatment is required.

 

The treatment should never be painful or uncomfortable. The current passed to the needles is very small ( the machine uses 4 AA batteries!).  Different types of current have different effects on the body, high frequency stimulating your body to produce its own opioid, painkilling response and low frequency which has an anti inflammatory effect . The intensity of current will also have an effect, stimulating cells to produce ATP which encourages more energy production and aid the healing process.

Treatments may be once or twice a week  for a couple of weeks depending on the severity of the pain, and then be reduced. Although painful conditions are mostly treated, Bells Palsy also responds well, especially if it hasn't been left too long without treatment.

When having an ElectroAcupuncture treatment the desire is to control pain, reduce inflammation, restore movement and help regenerate. To break the vicious cycle that pain creates and promote general health.
